Former secret services head Radu Timofte died

The former head of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and important political man, Radu Timofte, aged 60, died this morning, at 6.30 a.m.
Former senator between 1990 and 2001, used to suffer from leukemia and he had recently been hospitalized at SRI clinic.
Radu Timofte was a decent and pertinent man, but the illness he had been suffering from was cruel, said Ion Iliescu, who nominated Radu Timofte for SRI.
Adrian Năstase said he hoped his family would suffer the least and said he remembered only good things about Radu Timofte.
“Let’s recall the good things he had done” added Adrian Nastase.
Radu Timofte was a strong, balanced man. I knew he was sick. The last time I talked to him was a month ago, not about politics, though, but about family, said Ioan Chelaru, close friend of the former SRI head.
