Reference rate of exchange: National currency to rise to a 4.3047 lei/euro
The reference exchange rate settled by Romanian central bank rose 0.21 % to 4.3047 lei / euro, on a market with low transactions, following a risk aversion which cheapened several emergent currencies in the region.

BNR reported an exchange rate of 4.2955 lei per euro in the previous session.
Euro currency was traded for 4.3050 lei at wake up call and then climbed to 4.3110. The leu then started to gain ground and recovered to the level on opening.
For the U.S. dollar, BNR's exchange rate rose 0.78 percent to 2.9152 lei per dollar, from 2.8927 in the previous session.
The international markets, the U.S. currency eased from 1.47 and 1.4780 per euro, and at 1:25 p.m. Romania's hour, the euro was traded for 1.4778 dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 10 – 10.5 percent a year, way above the key interest rate of 8 percent a year.
