Funny people and dusty alleys, after seven decades, Siliştea-Gumeşti keeps unchanged.
Even today, among the people from Siliştea-Gumeşti (Teleorman district) you can find characters such as Moromete, Bălosu, Ţugurlan or Birică.
He is not Ilie Moromete, he is Săndel (Tudor Alexandru, aged 62) of Znău. During presidential elections he used to come with his wife in the carriage from the field.
Before arriving home, a neighbor greets him with a remark “Take him slowly, ‘cause he was stolen his shirt while farming!” “Yeah, and you’re the smart one!” replied Săndel. “Damn you!” he added slowly, and stepped in to unhook the horse. The scene gave one the impression Moromete was still alive.
