The former Romanian chief-negotiator with European Union says the debates regarding the nominee of the Romanian candidates for Brussels must come to an end by the end of this month.

Ion M. Ioniţă (Adevarul): Mr minister, we saw some enthusiastic statements made by France about the support of a Romanian commissioner for agriculture. The topic is still being discussed here and the consensus of Dacian Cioloş matter seems to come only from a certain area of the coalition. What information do you have about this issue?
Vasile Puşcaş: The fact that there is a discussion about the future Romanian commissioner in Brussels is a good thing. We are not accustomed to this type of debating. If we are to build the citizens’ Europe, then citizens must be involved. I, personally, am convinced that after all, considering our experience from 2006-2007, the unitary support of a candidate would be benefic.
Ovidiu Nahoi (Adevarul): But, there is a consensus at this moment?
Vasile Puşcaş: At the time being, things are being debated. But, when the decision is about to be taken, then this must be a unitary one.
Ion M. Ioniţă: How long do you think it'll take before a consensus would be reached?
Vasile Puşcaş: By the mid of this month we should know whether president Barroso wins another mandate of presidency. From that point on, the president of the Commission will work on building a team. The logical conclusion would be that, we should finish the debates by the end of the month. I don’t want to set up a deadline for these debates, but I think we should have a unitary opinion as regards our candidate to the European Commission presidency by then.
