The Romanian minister of Environment, Nicolae Nemirschi, said today the guarantee of the PETs’ buy back will be enacted from 2010.

The so-called tax for PETs can be enacted starting from 2010. I repeat, we are not talking about a rise in the price of the products packed in this type of recipients, but about a pay back to the buyers at every PET returned to the store explained Nemirski.
The Romanian minister admitted the fact that his initiative is not easy to be fulfilled, but, that this type of guarantee for the plastic containers is necessary.
Nicolae Nemirschi said, on Sunday, in a press conference held in Arad, he would propose the introduction of a buy back tax for the PETs, measure that aims at a better collection of the remnants.
We’re not inventing the wheel, at least for PETs. People have already been accustomed with the echo-tax for the plastic bags.
