New car sales fell by 52.5 % in the first six months

According to the data released by the Association of Producers and Importers of Romanian Cars, in the period between January - July 2008 have been sold 82,821 new cars, half of the number of those sold in the same period of 2008.

July was a unfavorable period for the new car dealers, who have sold 12,211 units, by 58.6 % less that last year.

The sales for new cars imported were in July 7,673 units, dropping by 62.6 % in comparison with July 2008. 56,741 imported cars have been sold in the first seven months of the year, which is 52.6 % less than 2008 similar period.

The car market, including cars, commercial vehicles and buses, gathered 92,526 units, 56.1 % less the last year’s same period, when there were reported 210,705 units.
