The plastic and aluminium containers (PET) represent over 30 % of the volume of remnants in Romania, and their collection, recycling and treatment, which is a mandatory commitment towards the EU, are insufficient.
In Germany, the “buy-back” system has been introduced in 2003, and 70 % of the used PETs are being collected and recycled.
The Romanian authorities couldn’t find the right method to dispose of the waste. The only solution applied so far, the selective collection of the garbage proves to be ineffective.
Germans people who return with the plastic or glass containers receive EUR 0.25 per each non-ecological container. The amount is taken off the shopping’s’ values. And people are, thus, interested in not throwing the containers at random.
“Adevarul” newspaper launches a campaign for the enactment, in the Romanian state, of a similar law which, along with the other measures, to lead to the purification of the environment.
