"Cotidianul" Newspaper/Adevarul Holding accuses Ringier of robbery

Dinu Patriciu`s media company brings Ringier to trial, following the accusations of Ringier accessing and downloading editorial materials belonging to Adevarul Holding, from the printing house`s server, a printing house that is common for the two companies.

Another dispute was born between Dinu Patriciu`s press group, Adevarul Holding, which has in its portfolio "Adevarul" and "Click!" publications and the Swiss company, Ringier, the owner of "Evenimentul Zilei" and "Libertatea".

Adevarul Holding management accuses competitors from Ringier of having break the server in the printing house where both companies print their newspapers and downloaded several pages from "Averea"/"Click!" publication.

Razvan Corneteanu, Adevarul Holding General Manager, who left Ringier last year from the position of Executive Director of Boulevard and Sport Newspapers Division, said that the company whom director is now will bring to justice Swiss company, both in Romania and Switzerland.

"Taking into consideration the way Adevarul Holding chose to bring the problem forward it is obvious that an image strike had been planned" answered Lucian Romascanu, Ringier`s Executive Director Of Boulevard and Sport Newspapers Division.

Ringier Company started off an internal investigation, concerning the IP belonging to their network which Adevarul Holding says it has been used to access "Adevarul" and "Averea/Click!" server, through ftp. Today, the issue was discussed by The Council Board of Honor, in Romanian Press Club, as a response of Razvan Corneteanu`s notice, of course, and the decision they took was to give Ringier 10 days for answering accusations. Lucian Romascanu, Executive Director of "Libertatea" and "Pro Sport", gave me an explanation, using, logically, a more official language than in that interview:

" The situation created concern us deeply, especially because internal rules of our company are against those kind of actions. Anyone can be behind this action, it is not necessarily Ringier. We hope that the investigation brings light to the situation. Otherwise, if Adevarul Holding intended to make a step for their image, misleading to the idea of us taking the editorial material and publishing them in Libertatea, this step they made is not sustained, the proves being the first one to come in conflict with it".
