Unemployment claims to reach one million in first half of 2010

Unemployment rate will rise by 10 % in the first part of the following year, when the number of the jobless could reach a million, according to Mihai Şeitan, secretary of state within the Ministry of Labor.

“We’re facing a period of crisis, when unemployment claims has doubled in the last nine months, and, according to the IMF estimations, it looks like in the first part of 2010 unemployment rate will reach 10 %. We are talking about a million jobless people” said Şeitan.
The Romanian representative of the Ministry of Labor says in the last period there were very few citizens that came back home, scared of the lack of jobs in Romania. They prefer to live on a unemployment aid in the countries they receive in Spain added Şeitan.
