Traian Băsescu reinvests Kovesi as prosecutor general
The Romanian president Traian Basescu signed the decree reappointing Laura Codruta Kovesi as the country’s prosecutor general, on Friday.

According to the legislation, Romania's prosecutor general is appointed by the head of state, at the proposal of the justice minister, with the consultative approval of the High Council of Magistrates. The prosecutor general is appointed for a three-year term and may be reinvested only once.
The proposition to reinvest Kovesi met with disapproval by the High Council of Magistrates.
Codruta Kovesi was first appointed general prosecutor of Romania on October 2, 2006, through a presidential decree.
