Disaster: The report of the presidential commission for the analysis of social risks reveals things much more serious than the problem of drugs and prostitution
A report released by Cotroceni Palace shows the uncovered image of the project of country modernization’s failure, started after December 1989.
Chronic poverty, long period unemployment, a population whose tendency is to grow old, pension and health exhausted funds, helpless institutions, with incompetent and bad-paid clerks, unequal access to education. These are just a few of the great risks Romania is confronting with, two decades after it, as a free country, planned to follow the European model of development.
The report of the presidential commission for the analysis of the social risks, which has become famous in the last few days only through the topic regarding drug and prostitution legalization, reveals much more serious issues.
Practically, the study describes the image of a national failure, showing the huge discrepancies between the needs of a society and its limited resources – financial, technological, and human. How did Romania reach this point? The receipt was simple: an endless succession of irresponsible political discussions, by means of which what today wasted tomorrow, would pay. And now, we can enjoy the disaster at its best.
