The rise of the minimum wage to 705 lei, an unsustainable measure

The rise of the minimum salary to 705 lei, with the year to come, is an unsustainable measure from an economical point of view, considering the Romanian Government has been fighting to pay pensions and wages in due time, according to the employers.

Cezar Corâci, UGIR-1903 head, said on Monday, before the discussions with the Ministry of Labour regarding the increase of the minimum wage, that a rise to 705 lei of its value would automatically lead to a rise in the medium pay from 1,885 lei to 2,217 lei.

This measure, even if is good for the trade unionists, is not opportune, according to the representatives of the business environment, as long as the stat budget is running out of money for the current wage payments.

The rise of the minimum wage is included in an amendment at the unique pay law, which the Executive assumed, on September 15.
