Reference exchange rate to reach the maximum point in 8 months: 4.2995 lei/euro

Reference rate of exchange settled by the Romanian Central Bank advanced 0.23 % to 4.2995 lei per euro, on a market with low transactions, following the risk aversion which cheapened several emergent currencies in the region, but also on the local political tensions.

BNR last posted such a high level on February 17, when the euro was traded for 4.3096 lei. The central bank established an exchange rate of 4.2897 lei per euro yesterday.

The single European currency maintained at 4.2890 lei this morning and climbed to 4.3050 lei. Leu currency inched slightly and stabilized near 4.30 and at 1:15 p.m. banks were buying an euro with 4.2946 lei and selling it for 4.3036 lei.
