Priest Ioan Boja, a loan shark in long robe

SATU MARE Priest Ioan Boja (aged 37) leaves believers without houses, after he lends them money. He motivates his acts by saying he must make up for his „investments”.

The father of Greek-catholic community of Culciu (Satu Mare) helps the faithful with money, then he puts pressures on them to take their properties and personal goods.

Priest Ioan Boja found the perfect method to get hold of cheap properties. He preaches at church and, in his spare time, helps the faithful from Culciu at world needs: credits, interests, businesses.

Boja drives an expensive off-road car, giving the impression he is a wealthy man. Thus, he can easily convince church-goers he can lend them big amounts of money with little bonds. Afterward, the priest sanctions them mercilessly in the account of the debts people can’t pay back.

Ardelean, a Romanian family who borrowed some money from the priest, claims they had been evacuated from their house by the priest, who presumably got EUR 40,000 for them.

„We used to pay him huge interests: 10,000 lei per month. He took out house and car” said Daniel Ardelean, father of two children. The priest says he must recover his ”investment”, in one way or another.
