Only 27 % of the IT&C managers are females
Only 27 % of the managers of informatics system and 9% of the hardware engineers are women, according to a review released by Cisco Company.
The same unequal report can be found in the academic environment, as well. Thus, there are only 5.8 % of the academic positions of technology and engineering fields are filled by females.
The study shows that, in the last couple of years, the European continent is confronting with a deficiency of IT&C specialized staff. The statistics say by 2010 there will be 70,000 unfilled positions.
The analysis made by Cisco embraces five European countries: Poland, Italy, Great Britain, France and Holland.
Almost half of the questioned females abandoned studies or an IT&C carrier. In 2004, in the European Union there were less than 25 % of the total students who graduated one of the faculties of IT&C.
