Djuvara: “I am as Ceauşescu used to like the country, many-sidedly developed!”

His volume named ”Riskier memories ans stories” released by Humanitas Publishing house can be found at all country’s libraries. Neagu Djuvara, aged 93, tells humorously occurrences from his childhood, few of his experiences spent in France and short stories about the emblematic characters of the inter-war city of Bucharest.

Neagu Djuvara’s story telling appeared for the first time in the Romanian magazine „Plai cu boi“. Then he decided to send the manuscript to Humanistas publishing house for it to publish it “only after his death”.

Humanitas general director Lidia Bodea revealed how she persuaded the writer to publish the volume while he is still alive.

'Neagu Djuvara’s stories have..their story. One day, when he came to us to discuss the summary of a future book about the Romanian boyars, the author left also a manuscript which had on its first page written in red letters “to be published post-mortem”.

There were not few nor little the exercises of persuasion, but we succeeded after all to have permission to gather four stories in a volume', said Lidia Bodea.
