The U.S. authorities accepted Romanian Justice Ministry’s request of temporary arrest in the case of former manager of Romanian National Railroad Company (SNCFR), Mihai Necolaiciuc, suspected of embezzling EUR 100 million, the ministry said, on Tuesday.

Necolaiciuc has been searched for since October 2006, when Romanian police lost track of him.
Minister of Justice, Cătălin Predoiu, said Necolaiciuc’s expatriation will not be easy considering the procedures are pretty complicated. He said he would provide more details about the case tomorrow.
The former director of CFR was arrested in West Palm Beach (Florida) last week, by the federal agents, for breaking the American immigration rules. Necolaiciuc had been libing in West Palm Beach for three years.
Necolaiciuc is accused of unwarranted investments performed during his management of the National Railroad Company, when he had purchased products at overestimated prices, provoking over lei 170 million losses.
