Bucharest Court of Appeals ruled on Tuesday that Romanian politician Nati Meir will keep in custody for 29 days, being charged of forgery, possession and forged currency trafficking.
Nati Meir appealed at judgesţ decision to detain him and told the Court of Appeals that during his 14 years of living in Romania he had tried only to help people solve their problems.
Violeta Podolianu, Meir's lawyer, told judges he cannot be charged on criminal offense as the three plaintiffs rushed when they filed their complaints and should have waited for the contracts to follow their legal course."
The prosecutor said Meir did not intend to observe the stipulations included in the contracts he signed and he has not brought evidence he has the money he promised to lend and wanted only to cash interest rate after hindering the loans he had promise.
