Salesmen vended just 9,600 houses in the first months of 2009. In the same period of 2008, the house offer used to exceed 16,000 units.
The number of two-room and studio apartment houses vended dropped by 10,000, while the prices came back to the level of 2007.
According to the classified ads, house owners seem less willing to sell their houses. Both low demand and very small prices put a damper on the potential salesmen, say real estate annalists.
The statistics centralized by the administrators of the real estate site anunturiparticulari.ro show the number of sell offers dropped by 40 % between January-May 2009 in comparison with 2008 same period.
If in the first quarter of 2007 the number of house offers reached 12,400 and in 2008 16,200, in 2009 there were 9,600 sell offers.
