The Romanian state will open a bank account for each child at birth, where it will deposit EUR 500, money that will be used in educational purposes, prime-minister Emil Boc said Thursday on the public radio station.

The child's parents will be able to earmark annually 2 % of their wage into the child’s bank account, according to the new provisions of the law draft regarding national education.
Parents can’t use these money. The state will open a special account to a bank or an institution, where nobody can have access to them by the time they had graduated from the mandatory educational grades and parents have the possibility of depositing annually another 2 % of their pay into this account, explained the Romanian premier Emil Boc.
