19 year-old drowns in Lake Snagov

Gheorghe Balan died drowning in front of his girlfriend and 20 year-old brother.

The young man died, Saturday, 4.30 p.m. in Lake Snagov.

The tragedy occurred as a consequence of a series of awkward acts committed by the company responsible with the boats’ rental:

1.    the four young men were not asked if they can swim.
2.    when they were out of a paddle, screaming for help, there came an employee who couldn’t swim
3.    the young men had no life jacket
4.    the boat that came in their rescue pulled away while Butnaru was standing
5.    his “rescuer” abandoned him in the middle of the lake 

"At 4.30 p.m., my brother fell into the water. We had lost one paddle of the scull, and the people from the rental came with a launch. My brother was standing at the end of the scull when they started the launch. And he fell into the water because of the jolt" tells the brother of Gheorghe, Ionel Butnaru.
