Traian Basescu to nominate a political candidate, if Croitoru is not accepted

The Romanian president Traian Basescu said, on Friday, he would nominate a second prime minister of the party with the largest number of lawmakers, if a government led by Lucian Croitoru would not be accepted in the Parliament.

Asked about his next step if a Government led by Croitoru is not accepted in Parliament, Basescu said the only alternative is to nominate as prime minister a politician from the party with the largest number of lawmakers, adding he cannot say names.
During Tuesday talks with democrat liberals on the future prime minister, Basescu referred to the Democratic Liberal Party as the party with the largest number of lawmakers.
President Traian Băsescu stated today, at the public station radio, the ideal variant for the function of premier would be Mugur Isărescu, but one cannot bring the central bank governor to the government.
The president was referring to Lucian Croitoru, the premier nominated by him, and he said he had chosen the variant of an independent of an excellent professional nature”.
