America and Romania must Join Forces to Reunite with the Republic of Moldova
0
Three out of four Romanians want Romania to reunite with the Republic of Moldova; more than half of the citizens of the eastern Romanian state support the Union to Romania, and the percentage is growing. This generates the opportunity of a quick and efficient solution to consolidate the Eastern flank of the European NATO block.
The partnership between Romania and the USA relies on both trust and on mutual interest. Beyond the consistency of the Romanian external policy and the permanent support of the value of democracy in any corner of the world, the Romanian-American partnership is meant to consolidate South-Eastern Europe, where the very key of stability and peace on continent and even in the work lies.
Romania's country project is to Reunite the Romanian people. This project is the very foundation of the Romanian nation, for which we have fought in three major conflicts without ever straying from this desiderate. It still is one of interest.
America needs a strong state in this corner of Europe; or, a strong state is one its own citizens trust. Moreover, a larger state gains in strength and safety, which has also been demonstrated by the way in which Romania was a factor of regional and European stability from its very set up as a state.
The Republic of Moldova is a state entity that is based on a lie and on a project that proved to be a failure. Citizens do not trust this country, as more than 30% of them are the citizens of a different state, and more than half of the population able to work chooses to leave this country. The failure also materialises in the Russian occupation of the Eastern are of the Republic of Moldova, for which no actual solutions are sought. Here, the political factor has strong connections to the Russian side, whether they are pro-Russian or allegedly European. Duality is the keyword for Moldovan politicians, the funds received for the consolidation of the constitutional state being actually used to maintain a corrupt system.
The citizens of the two states share the same history, the same language, the same culture, and the same desire to live together.
America has to support and it will support the Romanian unionist project, as this will strengthen the trust between the two peoples. It is to the interest of America for the Romanian people to be a strong one and an ally. We have demonstrated that we are reliable partners, so why not become an even safer partner by further expanding the democratic model created with the US support to the Republic of Moldova?
The unification of the two Romanian states is a goal that is not sought for by Romanians only, but by Europe itself, by NATO and America, as it can strengthen the area and global safety even further.
The reunification is a democratic project expressing a people's will to live together.
