José Manuel Barroso: ”The world won’t be the same after this downturn”
0The world won’t be the same after this economic downturn stated Tuesday in Barcelona the president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
Addressing informally to the media, after his participation in an economic forum in Barcelona, Barroso said the European Union would show flexibility on the limit of 3 % of the GDP, which shouldn’t exceed the public deficit of its member states.
Among others, the European Commission president estimated Europe would start exceeding the financial downturn in 2010, although there were still many things to be done on the continent in order to do so.
Now, the first preoccupation in Europe is unemployment. This is the main European social drama, not only for those who want to work, but also for those who, having a job, are afraid of losing it added Barroso.
José Manuel Barroso participated to a meeting along with another 1,800 economists from all over the world at the autonomous University from Barcelona.
