Băsescu proposes independent or opposition minister of Interior
0The head of state proposes two solutions for the settlement of the political conflict between PSD and PDL parties: naming a representative of the opposition or an independent leader at the head of the Internal Affairs Ministry. The president said any of these solutions should eliminate suspicions and accusations that either party is trying to rig presidential elections scheduled to take place on November 22nd.
Both of the solutions involve the Parliament's consultation, since the Government's structure is changing. Băsescu talked to premier Emil Boc and PSD head Mircea Geoana, amid a political dispute that could end with the split of the coalition.
Emil Boc sent the proposition to dismiss social democrat Interior Minister Dan Nica and have democrat liberal Development Minister Vasile Blaga serve as interim because social democrats refused to nominate anyone, to the President Tuesday
Asked about Nica's dismissal, Băsescu said he'd rather not rush with the decisions and let governing parties solve conflict and find a solution as regards the Ministry of Interior.
