Adrian Nastase indicted for bribery
0Former social democrat prime minister Adrian Nastase was send up for trial by anti-corruption prosecutors on charges of bribery. The trial should start on November 27 at the High Court of Justice.
Adrian Nastase, his former adviser Ristea Priboi and a former chief of the office fighting money laundering, Ioan Melinescu, have all been accused.
Romania's Chamber of Deputies voted in March to lift Nastase's immunity and allow criminal prosecution against him, after having hindering prosecutors' efforts to indict him several times before.
Nastase has repeatedly denied any law-breaking,, saying the allegations were politically motivated.
